Desert Storm Cards

Although we Americans remain strongly split in our beliefs about whether or not our military belonged in Iraq after the Twin Towers fell, most of us felt it was the right thing to do to help Kuwait in it's battle against Saddam Hussein's invasion way back in 1991. After putting protective forces into Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield in 1990, an offensive plan obviously needed to follow and the first shots by the defending Coalition forces were fired on February 22 of 1991.  Operation Desert Storm was launched at 1300 hours, with 108 rockets screaming into Iraq from the 40th Field Artillery Regiment.  Two days later, one half million Coalition troops began the "100 Hour Ground War" and a push toward Kuwait along 5 fronts.  Three days after that, the "Mother Of All Battles" ended with "The Mother Of All Surrenders."

Several companies previously known for producing baseball trading cards saw this historic event as an opportunity to document the action via their own unique media.  Thus were born the Desert Storm Cards. The leading producer was Topps, with three series of cards. Pro Set and several other sports cards producers soon followed but Topps provided the most interesting and graphic series of cards as well as sticker sets complementing each issue.

We sell full sets of Desert Storm Cards, from the dozen or so manufacturers. The cards may come in factory boxed sets or, like the Topps and Pro Set cards, they will be hand collated from individual card packs, but otherwise in new, prime condition. We do not sell used sets.
So, what are these Desert Storm cards worth today? Their value is seen mostly in full sets, by collectors. In new or nearly mint condition, sets are running from $10 to around $30. Some folks will instead hunt for boxes of unsorted cards, but that can quickly end up being more expensive.
